Safety Alert March 25, 2014

The purpose for this communication is to alert you to a series of incidents that have occurred between yesterday at 3:50 p.m. and again this morning at 7:20 and 7:25 a.m. related to three female students being assaulted in the vicinity of Christofferson Road between McKenna and Walnut streets.  At this time, the description provided by the victims indicates the assailant to be a  Caucasian male, in his mid-20’s, 150-170 lbs., ranging from 5’5”-5’10” in height, and possessing light brown/reddish hair, including scruffy facial hair.  He was reportedly wearing jeans and a gray hooded zip-up sweatshirt during yesterday’s incident, and this morning, tan/brown pants, a dark hooded sweatshirt, and sunglasses.  Our purpose in alerting you is to share this information so that you may take the proper precaution before and after school until this person is apprehended.  Fortunately all three students are safe and at school today.  We are working closely with the Turlock Police Department to ensure the person responsible is apprehended as soon as possible, and ask that you please report any suspicious activity to TPD immediately at 668-1200 for a non-emergency report, and 911 for witnessing an injury/assault.


El propósito de esta comunicación es para alertarle a usted de una serie de incidentes que han ocurrido desde ayer a las 3:50pm y otra vez esta mañana a las 7:20 y 7:25 a.m. en relación con tres alumnas adolescentes que fueron asaltadas cerca de la calle Christofferson entre las calles McKenna y Walnut. En este momento, la descripción proveída por las víctimas es que el agresor es un hombre de raza blanca, en sus mediados de los años 20, entre 150-170 libras de peso, con la estatura entre 5 pies 5 pulgadas a 5 pies 10 pulgadas, de cabello color café claro/rojizo, incluyendo vello facial descuidado. Según los informes, llevaba unos pantalones vaqueros y una sudadera de cierre con capucha color gris durante el incidente de ayer. Esta mañana llevaba pantalón color canela/marrón, una sudadera oscura con capucha y lentes de sol. Nuestro propósito en avisarles es compartir esta información para que tomen la debida precaución antes y después del horario escolar hasta que esta persona sea localizada y detenida. Afortunadamente las tres alumnas están seguras y en la escuela hoy. Estamos trabajando estrechamente con el Departamento de Policía de Turlock para asegurar que la persona responsable sea detenida tan pronto como sea posible. Les pedimos que por favor reporten cualquier actividad sospechosa a la Policía de Turlock, usando el número 668-1200 para un reporte que no es de emergencia y llamar al 911 si ha sido testigo de una lesión / asalto. 
Se debe notar que el distrito no fue alertado de estos tres incidentes antes de que estas estudiantes primero informaron a sus escuelas respectivas esta mañana.


School safety has been, and will continue to be, a very high priority for the Turlock Unified School District. We know that student discipline and bullying behavior are serious concerns in American public schools these days, and TUSD has taken a very proactive approach to deal with student misconduct and bullying.

High School Diploma

All diploma students must meet with a counselor before registering. New students must bring a copy of their high school transcript. Please call 209-667-0643 for spring counseling dates and times.

Boston Reed Medical Training Courses

Unfortunately, we have just received notice that Boston Reed will no longer be partnering with adult schools to offer medical programs. All Boston Reed courses at Turlock Adult School are cancelled as of December 18, 2013.

CNA Information

Turlock Adult School does NOT have a CNA program at this time. Please contact Modesto Junior College or Merced College for information on their nursing programs.

Online Registration

Turlock Adult School Online Registration begins Monday, January 6, 2014 at 8:00 a.m.

Supply Lists

Supply lists are available from the TAS online registration Web site. Choose your course from the menu to access the supply list.

GED

Turlock Adult School is not a GED Testing Center. For testing information, please contact P.A.C.E. in Modesto at (209) 238-1500 or Merced Adult School in Merced at (209) 385-6524. For score information, contact the ETS GED Records Center at (866) 370-4740.

Free Public Education Compliance

The State of California Constitution guarantees students a "free public education." All high school diploma, English-as-a-second-language, and citizenship classes offered by Turlock Adult School are offered free of charge.
